Phew! Today was worth it.. Every grueling day of practice for the cheering competition paid off. It was great.

We were asked to be early. We needed to be in school at 6:00 am. Early, yeah I know, but there were a lot of preparations to be done for the competition(at least thats what it said in the text message...hehehe..). We were there, though some were still late. We started to prepare. The cheerdancers were putting on make-up and tying their hairs up to a pony tail. The pep squad were putting on paint on their palms and putting "J" on their cheeks. The others made small banners and gave it to the lower levels(elementary). Before we went down for the very short parade, Sir came in to give us a few words. After that, we assembled in the field and followed the rest of the students into the new covered court. We sat on the left side nearest to the stage. We had the Opening Ceremony, a few words from our Principal, The Oath of Sportsmanship(is that right?dunno what they call it...ahehehe..)and it was on to the show.

I sat back and watched the other years perform and honestly I was nervous. I wasn't a cheerleader or a member of the pep squad but I was in charge of ther music. One slip and everything would be ruined. What made it worse was that from the sound system booth I couldn't see them since it was facing the stage not out to the court where they would be performing. So I told them to cheer loud so I would be able to hear from the inside.

First up was the freshmen. They were alright except it didn't give that much impact, for me that is. Though for freshmen, they were good. Next up was the sophomores. It was nice because I was itching to see what they created since they only usually practice a part of their routine. There was supposed to be an intermission number from the Indak club(dance club..) but they were having some problem with their music. They couldn't find the music in the i-Pod shuffle and so they said that they would just perform after the competition. So there... We were up next, the moment of truth. I placed the cd in and waited for the cue. Once I got the cue to start, I played the music and stepped out of the booth to watch. I couldn't help myself, I wanted to see how everything looked. Everything was going well so far. From the stage it looked great. The moving pyramid and the hanging pyramid was done successfully and there wasn't any major mistakes made. The pep squad gave it all their best to cheer and the cheerdancers gave it all they got with the dances and chain reactions. All went well up to the last pose and the exit. It felt great after that. Next up was the seniors. Their entrance was great. I really liked it entering in togas and then removing them. They had great steps and nice cheers. Though to be honest, it seemed like something was missing and I didn't quite get their exit. But all in all I enjoyed watching them.

The competition was over and the judges were deciding the winner. The Indak club came back but still had trouble with the music. But still even though the music was really messed up, they still danced. After the Indak club, it was time for the awarding. We were all nervous and really couldn't wait to know who the winner was. Every year gave it all their best and everyone did great. The first award was best in costume which was awarded to us. It shocked me since I thought the freshmen would win it. Next was the first runner up which was the freshmen. We clapped and they cheered. The 2nd runner up was the seniors. I was, again, shocked. I never thought that they would be the 2nd runner up. The sophomores and us, the juniors were left. We had our hands with confetti(cut pieces of magazine..) preparing to throw it around at whoever the winner would turn out. Finally they called the sophomores as the 1st runner up and then and there we shouted and cheered and threw the confettin making a big mess. But hey we won we had the right to celebrate right? It was great! Everything we worked hard for, every sermon or lecture we got for not doing it right, some things that happened which wasn't that good, paid off in the end. We Won! The Champions in the Cheering competition. Man it felt good.
Here are some pictures from the competition. There are supposed to be more but they're blurred.. I'll do a behind the scenes post next along with pictures...^_^x
